Day 2559

February 2, 2012

Day 2559
sometimes the old pics
make me happy, sometimes sad,
but always thankful

Day 2493

November 10, 2011

day 2493
as with my photos,
I want to see things truly
and to accept them

Day 2466/Day 2467a/b

October 15, 2011

- – - – -

Day 2466
with thoughts and our tools,
we took to the walls, hanging
photos, ideas

- – - – -
Day 2467a
with fire and fervor,
the band leapt around the stage
their vibe, contagious

- – - – - -

Day 2467b
Sitting in the dark,
I’m reminded of love found
sitting side-by-side

day 2338

May 18, 2011
day 2338
before the students -
sharing – hopefully moving
them to make photos

day 2263 (and photo-inspiration)

February 17, 2011
day 2263
I hurried ‘cross the bridge,
pausing to make a photo
of city workers

day 2220a/b (snow-storm, running +photo)

December 12, 2010

day 2220a

I achieved the peak,

the wind kicked up, and the world,

for seconds, was lost

day 2220b

running and photo

share the truism that success

comes in being there

day 2164

September 8, 2010

day 2164

my eyes skimmed over

the black-and-white photograph,

looking for dust specks

day 2162

September 7, 2010

day 2162

I stood in the dark,

listening to the music

and the washing prints

day 2125

June 30, 2010
day 2125
looking through the lens,
remind myself the limits
of what’s really seen

NON-haiku-ness, but still interesting

+attached is a photo of John Dominis and Bill Appleby, of VP Photo Gallery, from Mr. Dominis’ 2006 visit to Milwaukee.

John Dominis is a renowned photo-journalist, most famous for the work he did with LIFE magazine, beginning in 1946 and going through the early 1970s.  John then became the photo-editor at People magazine, and then at Sport Illustrated.  In his travels around the world, John photographed the Kennedy “I am a Berliner” speech, the Woodstock concert, six Olympics, Frank Sinatra’s 50th Birthday, Steve McQueen, Dustin Hoffman and Mao Tse-Tung.  John will be giving a speech that deals with the honor that has been his, in witnessing many significant world news events and in having the opportunity to see so much of the world while on assignment.

The VP Photo Gallery is quite unique in the gallery world, being one of the few galleries licensed to sell photos from the LIFE magazine archives.  The gallery also showcases photos from the National Geographic and Associated Press archives.  VP is located in Milwaukee’s Third Ward at 320 E. Buffalo Street.

The Outreach Department at Cardinal Stritch University offers many credit and non-credit classes for adults in the Milwaukee-area.  Photography, religious studies, computer studies and physical wellness are just a few of the areas where the Outreach department excels!

Troy Freund is a Milwaukee editorial and commercial photographer.  He specializes in on-location portraiture and is a photo-educator as well.
