Day 2580

February 29, 2012
Day 2580
I woke to the sight
of dim light through my window -
rain falling outside

Day 2570

February 15, 2012

Day 2570

gray clouds released rain -
I turned on the car’s wipers -
and then dried my eyes

day 2411

August 13, 2011
Day 2411
I felt the raindrops,
recognizing where I was
versus where I wished

day 2400a/b, and other people’s haikus too

July 28, 2011
Today marks the “official” two-thousand-four-hundredth day of writing haikus for me. I began writing haikus in November 2002. So, it’s taken me a while to get to Day 2400, but here it is; enjoy!
Day 2400a
at the Roman Coin,
rain lightly falling outside,
we talked ’bout art, life
- – - – - -
Day 2400b
lightning from the storm
illuminated my room,
and I thought of Rach

day 2308/day 2309a/b

April 16, 2011
day 2308
walk across the bridge
with a swift step, shoulders hunched
hands stuffed in pockets

day 2309a
events of the night
suggested that she reach out
and try one more time

    day 2309b
    it was rainy, dark -
and what I’d thought a small smudge
    was, in truth, lipstick

    day 2200a/b

    November 11, 2010

    day 2200a

    awkwardly we walked,

    both holding the umbrella,

    trying to keep step

    day 2200b

    up against the fence,

    the sun-dried and wind-pressed leaves,

    their travels halted

    day 2142

    July 30, 2010
    day 2142
    an abstract pattern
    evolving on the concrete
    as the rain begins

    day 2099

    May 11, 2010
    day 2099
    though it’s raining now,
    I’m trying some optimism,
    assembling the grill

    day 2082

    April 7, 2010

    day 2082
    rudely awakened,
    by wind and downpour, pounding,
    abusing our roof

    day 2081

    April 6, 2010
    day 2081
    the north-facing pane,
due to the day’s windy storm,
    spattered  with rain-drops
